College GO Week

This week was College GO Week!!  On Wednesday it was Professional Day.  The students came to school dressed like a professional they want to be when they grow up.  We had police officers, teachers, a principal, a Pixar animator and director, a veterinarian, a gymnast, and much more!

Math Game with our Fourth Grade Buddies

This week we played a new math game with our fourth grade buddies called Pumpkin Bump.  The game helps us practice our math facts in a fun way.  We rolled two dice and found the sum of the numbers shown on the dice.  We looked for the sum on our game board and covered it with a marker.  When a player has two markers on the same number, the number is save.  If the opponent rolls a sum that only has one marker on it, he or she can bump the other player's marker off.  The player that uses all of his or her markers is the winner.

Science with Mrs. Munk

We learned so much!  We found out that everything is made of matter.  It can be a solid, a liquid, or a gas.  A solid is a kind of matter that has its own shape and does not flow.  A liquid is a kind of matter that doesn't have its own shape.  You can pour a liquid, and they need to have a container.  Examples the students thought of would were milk, water, and juice.  A gas flows, does not have its own shape, and can spread freely.  Most of the time you can't see it.

Rolling to 50 in Math

During math this week we learned how to play a game called Rolling to 50.  The students used a game board in their journals and were given game pieces, and a die.  The first player rolled the die. The number that came up was the number of spaces the player would go, then the second player would follow the same routine.  The game continued until one player reached 50.   This helped the students with counting to 50.
